Inspired by some comments on Jo's latest game-rant - I can't stand PC gamers with superiority complexes. The fact that your PC costs more than my PS2 does not make you a better person than me, nor does it automatically mean your games are better. There are good games for the PC, and there are bad, just as there are for all the consoles, and all the handhelds out there. And different systems have different sets of good games - this is why I don't play our Xbox at all - from what I've seen, the vast majority of excellent Xbox games are first-person shooters, which hold basically no appeal to me. However, I don't spend my time more or less calling people who do like those - or, hell, PC gamers, for that matter - idiots. And no, this isn't directed at anyone probably actually reading this - I'm mostly just venting so I don't bite anyone's head off over there.

On to fun things! I finished Code: Veronica tonight, so some final assorted thoughts on that, which I will cut this time for spoilers - there are one or two people reading this that haven't played C:V and might.

I would almost feel sorry for Alfred if he wasn't trying to kill me. Because he's so totally pathetic. He's so obsessed with his genius crazy-bitch twin sister that while she's cryogenically frozen he dresses up and pretends to be her, and has conversations with himself. That's just...there are no words, really. Alexia, on the other hand, is really scary, as already mentioned. But she has a pretty voice. And sings. And then the song gets stuck in my head and gives me wierd dreams argh.

I was also kind of sad that Steve died (although I won't be at all surprised if he's back later, what with Wesker's miracles of science and all) - he was a little annoying, but mostly just amusing, and kinda dorky-cute.

On the subject of Wesker - the ending cutscene between him and Chris was the most awesome RE cutscene outside of 4 (It's not really fair to compare the rest of the games to 4, honestly). Wesker is so evil. And awesome. And this game gave more fodder to the 'daddy Wesker' jokes. Because he does control the hunters. To quote Ben, "They know who their true master is. And they love him."

Next up on the RE list - RE:0! But in the meantime I'm going to take a break and work on my KH replay some.

You have an Xbox? O_o I had no idea. PLAY JADE EMPIRE.

I'm not kidding you. That game is so good it's ridiculous.

Also, Xbox has a few good RPGs. Besides Jade Empire, there's also KotOR I and II and Morrowind, all three of which you can also find on PC. They're all good games and worth playing.

We've got all four - Morrowind honestly doesn't appeal to me, but I have a save started in KotOR. I just haven't really been feeling up to RPGs lately (survival-horror FTW!), and Xbox controllers drive me nuts after using GameCube and PS2 ones for so long.

But yeah, we've had an Xbox for a while now - it's actually more just Ben's then both of ours.

and Xbox controllers drive me nuts

Hahaha. Can't handle The Duke?

That's okay, I can't either. Xbox controllers are obviously not built for small Asian hands. :/ Hence why I played KotOR on the PC, and why I only played Jade Empire on the Xbox because I had no other choice. XD

And dude...that conversation in Ari's blog was pissing me off so bad at 8am this morning. :/ I mean, normally I am pretty pissy when I'm awake at 8am anyway...but the COMPLETE AND TOTAL pretention going on with [livejournal.com profile] su_chan being all like, ":/ Console games suck" irritated the fuck out of me.

=_____=

I wanted to hit her with my PS2 controller. *rolls eyes* Only idiots get into PC vs. console turf wars, seriously. :/

And as for the whole Japanese vs. NA thing...I dunno. I go through phases. All I know for sure right now is that the gaming industry is in desperate need of a revolution. It's been a long, long time since we've seen the great landmark games that stand the test of time and remake the industry. Planetfall, Myst, Civilization, stuff like that. There is awesome work coming from the NA end with Will Wright and Spore, and awesome work always coming from the Japanese end (it's just their RPGs I'm horrendously sick of and wish I could quit), especially with the Nintendo Revolution.

But god, I'm just looking for something new, something not totally repetitive that I haven't done a million times over. *shrugs*

And I've just realized I'm sounding pretentious so I'll shut the hell up. :3

It's not the size, it's the extra buttons and stuff. I start getting confused.

From what Ben has told me, it's mostly PC gamers who get into PC versus console wars XD;

And I'm largely indifferent to where my games come from, although I am Squeenix's bitch (I sold them part of my soul for FF7 and FFX and they never gave it back ;;), and Capcom's cheap whore for DMC and RE. I usually don't even remember which developers make which games, and where they're based, for the most part XD;

you can hit me, but you'll hardly find a flaw in my defense, I've been trained by good 'pc vs console fighters' XDDD I said on Ari's 95% of console games suck and 100% of jap wrongly called rpg's are crap, there are good consloe games, but too few of them there are... so probably you could reconsidere hitting me *pet eyes* besides i was bored and was only searching for fun in a discussion, and is what I got, thanks.

Have you seen the 400mb video of Spore? was A M A Z I N G, I want this game too badly ;_; (http://meyermike.com/sporevid/GDC-Spore.avi)

You've just summed up the entire reason I don't have an Xbox. I don't play shooters or racing games, and the games on there in genres I do play are almost all multiplatform with either a console I have or PC.

Yeah, it's why I didn't chip in when my brother bought the Xbox - I sort of went '...The only game for this console I'd really ever want to play is KotOR'

Date: 2006-03-11 03:27 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_25756 (from dreamwidth.org)
oooh *sniffles* you were actually waiting for me to come here? So yes, I did, mainly becasue now I'm free at home and because I was worried/curios why you still had not answered the 'why do you need 15 endings in the same game' question... and what do I find?:

However, I don't spend my time more or less calling people who do like those - or, hell, PC gamers, for that matter - idiots. WHEN have I said that????? I know for sure I have never called any gamer an idiot, of any kind, so please don't put words in my mouth. Besides I've been very educated I think, a bit ironic/sarcastic but educated after all, and trying to always give good arguments to my words, a person playing bad games is not an idiot, that person only needs to try different games XD

What happens and the reason why pc gamers are always the ones who start the wars is because we are very worried for what is happening nowadays with games, the good ideas are dying replaced for simplified, repetitive and short games only to appeal more people and sell more, and while the console manufacturers are the ones deciding the games created or the ones paying to create the games they want this will not change. WE have played more differnt games and seen diferent game styles (I think almost all game styles were created for PC, Amiga, spectrum or commodore 64) and we, and me personally, are too worried for how this willl end. Any of the greatest and most inovative games are sales succes, why? too complex... If the players don't demand better games they will always create crappy ones.

(better don't answer to the question above, was a trap, to give me a base to rant against cutscenes in front of longer and better gameplay, you know, when watching cutscenes you don't actually play ^_~)

No, if I wanted you to see it, I would have posted in Ari's LJ. If I had wanted to vent in the privacy of my own journal, I would have posted it here. Which is what I did. As for why I haven't replied over there, I've had friends over and haven't been online.

Well, as you were going on about how console gamers only want to finish a game and then move on to a new one, and they're the reason that games are becoming more simplistic and shitty, that's pretty down-putting right there. And I'm not even going to touch the whole 'Final Fantasy is an adventure game' thing because you are _convinced you are right, when the rest of the gaming world says otherwise - I could ask someone in the industry if you'd like, but I suspect you'd prefer to be wrong.

Your entire attitude has been that console games suck, and PC games rock - any arguments about simplicity are just to justify that goal. There's a lot of crappy PC games on the market which you seem to conviently ignore in favor of ragging on console games. As for the cutscenes, I'd say go play the Metal Gear Solid series, except oh, they're console games! There's no way they could be good. And RE4, which I mentioned before? Interactive cutscenes. You can't just sit back and watch (well, you _can_ - the death sequences are wonderfully gory and detailed...but if you want to advance forward in the game you can't), and to be honest, I love it. I hope more games do it, and I'm happy that Capcom has already said they're using the gameplay from RE4 for RE5, because it is the best gameplay I've picked up in a while.

Then do not say 'anyone probably actually reading this' becasue I felt name there ^^;

Well, as you were going on about how console gamers only want to finish a game and then move on to a new one that does not make the players idiots... you read my words in the worng way... call it 'fast-fun' in comparison to 'fast-food' And anyway, what i wrote is true (about short and more fast and simple games nowadays).

FF are labelled adventure-rpg's games in 'gaming indsutry' *sigh* I only don't like them named only 'rpg's'

As far as i know Metal Solid, at least the first one, was a cutescen fest XDDDDD Splinter Cell was better, but I don't know about the other MS's a part of the gameplay style.

And yes, there are bad Pc games, of course. I'm not ignoring them... nobody asked for a list, for example Ultima 9 was horrible, and saldly the last one of a mithic series @_@

Bye!!! (I promise!)
