[livejournal.com profile] seracy, sorry about earlier, I was out, but AIM didn't register my away message for some reason. Tomorrow morning's no good either, I've got church. Sundays in general are no good for me, sorry.

Also, any Farscape fans hanging around here might want to see this. Any people who aren't Farscape fans hanging around here need to get their asses over to my house, as I've got the first season on DVD, and it rocks.

WalMart had a demo off DDR Max2 on their PS2, and I discovered that it's inpossible to hit two arrows at the same time on Playstation controllers. Came home and decided to fool around with some DDR sims other than FFR, and I've discovered that it's not just the feet bit that makes me suck at DDR, because I'm a lot worse on the sims, and on the demo, than at FFR, too. So now I'm trying to figure what exactly the difference is that makes me pretty good at one, but pretty not good at the other. [livejournal.com profile] ariseishirou? Any insight, as you play both lots ^^?

I am bad at DDR too.

First, while playing ddr definitely helps with ffr- the timing and such- ffr wouldn't help with ddr. The body movements have to be learned separately. Second, skill at ffr, I've found, has more to do with how often you've played fast-paced video games to get that eye-hand coordination up to speed. DDR has nothing to do with that. EVERYONE starts off sucking, whereas I found- and I tried it out on my equally game playing freak of a little brother- I had a natural ease for playing ffr because my eye-hand coordination is so well-trained. Besides, playing DDR with the controller is often harder.

BTW, it's easy to hit two buttons at the same time on the Playstion controllers- both the arrow keys and the buttons are the arrows on the screen, work one with one thumb, and one with the other.

Your explanation is more or less what I was thinking it might be, except one thing doesn't work out - I'm still a lot better at FFR than I am at other computer sims that are more like DDR than FFR is, and I've just been playing those with my keyboard too, because I don't have a pad or anything.

Ah well. Maybe it's one of those unanswerable questions, like how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie pop, or when CLAMP will finally write more X ^^
