Yeah, I love Seishirou and all, but that layout was a rather shoddy bit of work. So, introducing the new, improved, Jack Sparrow version! It even works in both 800x600 and 1024x768. I deserve an award for managing to make a multi-resolution LJ layout, I think ^^ Dedicated to [livejournal.com profile] bangles and Grace, who appreciate Jack as much as I do, if not more ^^

*snerks* Have fun, although you might have to fight him for it. Seems a bit protective of that that, sorta like Indiana Jones ^^

I do it in Paintshop Pro, although it is possibly to do it in Photoshop, I think. In PSP, you make a new layer, select the grid under textures (usually it's set to no texture, but you can pick one), flood fill, and and then adjust the opacity on that layer so it looks how you want it to. Then I erased the bits of grid where I wanted the whole pattern to show through, or where it fades out on the left edge.
