Dear con-goers,
No matter how much you look like a given Turk naturally (see: Tseng-boyfriend), getting up and putting on some random navy suit you bought for like graduation or whatever does not constitute good cosplay. Ever. Seriously, I am sick of seeing shitty closet-cosplay Turks on the internet. My esteemed Turks (who will not be shitty because /I/ am in charge here) will probably have to keep me from throttling people at Sakuracon.

In gaming news, all I can say is holy shit guys, we're in the future. Isak and Varus, being mages, are of course poking and prodding at everything to see how it works and Isak is going 'Death is free again? Whoa'. This is going to be awesome.

Classes start tomorrow and I am still waitlisted for two of mine aaaaagh.

My boyfriend looks like Rufus. I'm not kidding. He's into politics too. XD He always teases me and calls himself my "real-life Rufus Shinra". *giggle*

And if your bf looks like Tseng, that is amazing. XD

Oh and about bad cosplay - did you happen to see the douchebag on Google who literally borrowed a wheelchair and threw a sheet over his head and called himself AdventChildren!Rufus? Uh, no, dude. hahaha.

Favorite photo (http://www.tokyo-tower.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=5746) out of the shoots, and Tseng headshot (http://www.tokyo-tower.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=3985). He can actually look serious in photos, I kill half of them by smiling too much.

Probably not that one specifically, but there are a lot of bad AC!Rufus cosplayers like that and I sob and swear to actually do it right.

You guys look great! You look like a friend of mine XD Damn it, now I want her to cosplay Rufus *dies*

I look nothing like any of the characters except for possibly Elena. Because I'm short. XD Or Lazard, because I'm flamboyant, wear glasses, and have weird hair. lol.

Date: 2009-09-09 06:49 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
I try! This and my half-finished AC!Rufus cosplay (crappy WIP camera phone photos near the top here (http://momijizukamori.livejournal.com/309759.html#cutid1)) are kind of my massive pet projects right now - I'm crazy-excited about the big group we've got going for next year - all four Turks, President Shinra, and Scarlet.

Don't let height deter you XD I come fairly close on most of mine, just because I'm tall for a chick and generally cosplay prettyboys, but my Reno is like...5'2". And totally badass. He is going to be teeny!Alucard to my Integra and his gf's Seras (she is also our Elena, and is super-cute ♥)

Date: 2009-09-09 06:54 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] whiskeynshinra.livejournal.com (from dreamwidth.org)
LMAO. That's awesome. *wonders idly if people would mind a 5'3" Lazard with T&A, because she wouldn't want to run around all day without her glasses and he's the only glasses-wearing character she can think of* XD

Love that we can see the bandages partially. Just like Rufus *grin* My friend does in-progress shots of hers a lot. She did Tifa. (She's cupcake_rufflebutt on dA and does ridiculously amazing shit.) You should do a shot with the bandages wound around your face like he wears them XD

The right cut can hide a lot XD I have a huge ass and like...D-cups, but I also have coat-hanger shoulders so if I wear a suit, nobody notices. I actually wear glasses too, but shelled out for some fucking amazing blue contacts (http://www.tokyo-tower.org/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=2564) (my excuse is that I can use them for other blue-eyed characters, too).

That was actually what part of the test was there XD I bought a fancy binder and wanted to make sure I could leave the shirts open as far as he does and still have the bandages cover it up. Probably going to 1) get a haircut and 2) finish hemming the shirts sometime this week, so I'll probably do some better test shots then. Also need to buy like...another three rolls of gauze.

I'll check her out! I always love seeing good cosplay because I am a huge nerd.

I have tiny little girl shoulders, a huge ass and C-cups XD and I'm 5'3". I can wear a suit and get away with for the most part, I just look like I have pecs XD I'm in a queer sorority and I do drag at parties a lot (I was James Bond at the last one *grin*), and my glasses are pretty manly (they are rectangular and somewhat reminiscent of Lazard's, though they're green and I'm pretty sure his aren't XD). I have astigmatism and thus can't really do contacts, but I have blue eyes, so I'd just be stumbling around blindly XD

She's brilliant. Her Bellatrix floored me. She does a lot of anime.

Date: 2009-09-09 07:19 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
lol, my friends have accepted that if I am invited to something where formal wear is required, I am wearing a suit. I don't have the build for dresses - I've occasionally gotten mistaken for a crossplaying guy when doing actual girl!cosplays, haha.

And you should totally go for it XD And yeah, sucks about the astigmatism - I'm just incredibly nearsighted which means I have to buy the pricey soft lenses. One more power up on the left eye and I am officially into custom lenses territory for anything coloured e.e

Yeah, looking through - holy shit, she's good. I try but 90% of my costumes are ruined by my inability to do hair and make-up, and having bad photos XD

Date: 2009-09-09 07:28 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] whiskeynshinra.livejournal.com (from dreamwidth.org)
I have had friends tell me I looked better in a suit too, despite the feminine build XD I have a large square jaw and a deep voice, and I keep my hair short (shorter than yours, actually XD). It goes.

I too have been mistaken for a guy while wearing dresses for Halloween *dies* It's my voice.

Yeah, contacts do nothing for me. I have little to no distance correction; it's all depth perception and the angle. So, without my glasses, things are bizarrely proportioned. Guess who had fun learning how to drive?! XD (I actually didn't get my glasses until I was 18. So, I learned to drive just misestimating distance because I couldn't fucking SEE. hahaha)

She's fucking ridic, I know. I'm still amazed. She did stage and theater for a long time. She's a musician/music teacher. So she's kind of got an eye for that sort of thing.

Yeah, I have the man-jaw too XD It's extra-funny when I'm wearing a fitted shirt and still get called 'sir' in stores and stuff. I like suits because they're so much simpler and more comfortable than dresses. And have pockets. If I cannot fit my keys, wallet, smartphone, and possibly mp3 player into my pockets...there are not enough pockets >.>

Oh god, that sounds nightmare-mode. Learning to drive /with/ glasses was hellish enough (although possibly because my mother tried to teach me on our stick shift). I've been wearing glasses since second grade, and literally anything farther away than six inches from my face is blurry without glasses.

Yeah, that would help a lot XD I learned to sew when I was fairly young so my craftsmanship is pretty good (the number of 'you /made/ that comments?!' I get when I mention making some of the more 'normal' stuff in my collection - waistcoats, one goth tailcoat, the linen shirts for AC!Rufus - is awesome), but I'm slowly working on the hair/make-up situation. Rufus and Sailor Uranus are the first two I've put a bunch of make-up work into, and it shows.

*hides shitty closet cosplay Hojo*

Date: 2009-09-10 06:13 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
See, it actually works out for Hojo, because Hojo actually wears /normal/ clothes. The Turks do not :< Combined with idiots who cannot put ties on, Tseng cosplayers who don't bother shaving (uggggh), and Reno cosplayers who try to spike their own hair....yeeeah.

I'm not sure I understand what happened in the gaming news.

Harlequin took us to a slightly alternate 2070 where Ristul and Verjigorm both own megacorps that rule the world. And then Harlequin showed us planes and stuff, Isak and Varus asked tons of questions most of which can be summed up as 'but if it's not magic, how does it /work/?' and Raife almost crashed the plane by fiddling with stuff in the cockpit. And the dragonborn paladin we picked up in Sigil freaked out a little.

And then we talked about how broken we are compared to the level of magic in SR, and how awesome some of the talents we have when applied to say, guns.

Date: 2009-09-15 04:22 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] sumbarbarus.livejournal.com (from dreamwidth.org)
ok...dragonborn paladin from sigil? Am I to understand that this is some sort of Earthdawn+ D&D4 +Shadowrun crossover?

And yes, I would say that earthdawn talents are broken in pretty much any other system (except perhaps Exalted and Scion)

Date: 2009-09-15 07:26 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Pretty much XD We unwisely stepped into a portal that actually lead to Teksint (the Horror metaplane), so getting knocked off the path and ending up in Sigil was his solution that didn't involve at TPK. And he's been being a total 4ed fanboy lately, so. Luckily Sigil was only like four sessions, because yeah, ED casters >>>> D&D casters.
