practicality: (I do believe in phosphorylation! I do!)
Occasionally Ubuntu really blows my mind. I just discovered that I can connect directly to my FTP server, no extra software required. I don't know why I find this so awesome, but I do. Also I am a huge nerd in two entirely different ways for this - I'm thinking about rooting my smartphone (tech nerdy), in part so I can make a ShinRa logo splash screen to match my Midgar wallpaper (fandom nerdy).

Anyway, rest of this post is a photo post \o/ Some FF7 cosplay stuff, some random amusing IRL stuff. I decided to embed the photos this time, so they are hidden below.

First, horrible AC!Rufus WIP shots. Mara's comment: "You look so miserable. It's very IC." Also yes I made those shirts myself /crazy

Old Rufus shoes next to new Rufus shoes!

My TB posters. Yeah, you're all jealous, I know.

Drinks the the Stonecutters! (well, we're almost a conspiracy...)

Fun at work

Hard Gay and Hard Gay's girlier sibling

We get the best brand names at work (a not-pictured favorite: Double-D Farms melons). And the second one is only amusing if you're an SR player - in which case you never want to eat those mangoes, ever.

My very artistic lunch the other day.

Justin's MEATWICH. It's not the greatest quality photo, but is two burger patties with mushrooms and fried egg inbetween.

New Turks fabric, with a scrap of old Turks fabric for color ref

The new blue looks alot more accurate. IT BURNS MY EYES.

The flash really brings it out, but yeah, it's got a little more of that bright video game pop to it, although not enough to make it look really fake when I make the suits up.

The feel isn't quite as nice as the other fabric (higher polyester content), but it was like half the price, so we will live.

LOL. At first, I was like AHHHH AC!RUFUS. *flails*

Then I scrolled down... and saw that AWESOME WATERMELON ART. My mind has been blown, I'm NOT even joking. @_@

lol those photos are so shitty, though. I'm going to have to try it on again once I actually have a haircut, and then hopefully I won't want to throw the thing across the room in frustration.

It's AMAZING, I know. We made it for the meat department because they gave us like $50 of close-dated ribs, which we feasted on for lunch.

How is Ubuntu for using ssh to root around in your phone (assuming that's what you're using-- it's what I'd use on mine, but I've got an iPhone and IIRC your phone runs Android)? Did you have to do anything really arcane to make it work? I'm considering putting Jaunty Jackalope on my old iBook (community maintained PowerPC ports ftw), but not if I can't ssh into my phone with it.

I am not sure, as I have not tried it yet XD I assume this is re: your post about using your iPhone as a portable drive, and you can kind of do that without anything fancy on the Magic, because it just mounts the microSD card as if it were a USB flash drive once you plug it in. I'll play around on my Ubuntu partion later and let you know, though.

Out of curiosity, what are you using to run games on your iPhone? I think there's a NES emulator app for the HTC Dream, but it relies on the built-in keyboard and thus doesn't work on the Magic.

That, and I can use it to share wi-fi with my old iBook G3 (which has no wireless card) via SSH tunneling. And so I can get in and hack settings. iPhones mount as digital cameras (so you can dump pictures without actually hacking the phone) but otherwise can only be accessed via SSH, I think.

I'm using the emulator snes4iphone, which (as the name might tell you) likely isn't going to work on an HTC phone. XD;

Ahh. Yeah, Android is a little easier to hack - I haven't rooted mine yet, but aparently it's not too tricky. I learned there's a build of Debian for my phone's chipset, and I am tempted to install that to the SD card just to play around with it.

Ahh, yeah, that wouldn't work for me XD
