Unless things change drastically in the next couple of days, I am going to go crazy living here this year. It seems like I may have gotten stuck on a floor more inclined to partying and standing around talking loudly, in the halls that echo like crazy. There are all of two people (out of about twenty) I am at all inclined to actually like.

I went into the city for a while, which provided a bit of a respite. Wandered around the gay section of town, and chatted with one of the clerks in a club-wear store and got tips on where to buy cheap groceries. Bought cheap groceries, and then realized that it's kind of a pain to walk around with lots of groceries, so I came back here, to the noise.

...I think the promise of free food has lured everybody else out. Free food sounds good, but around here 'BBQ' apparently means 'overcooked hamburgers' (and just hamburgers - the cheese either disappears in the first five minutes, or doesn't exist to begin with), and I am sick of that.

Goddamn am I in a foul mood. I think I need to go kill things for a while.

That sounds exactly like the first dorm I lived in-- party central, with all of two people who were actually interested in something besides getting as drunk as possible every weekend. (And unfortunately, my roommate was not one of those two.)

Ugh, that sounds horrible. I at least don't have a roommate, so I can kind of retreat and lock my door, if need be.

From my experience there tend to be phases. The first week of school, no one has any assignments so they go have fun. Then it quiets, then some big holiday or event comes around and people get noisy. Then they quiet again. Worst case scenario: headphones and/or ear plugs. ^^; Good luck!

Yeah, think I may buy earplugs just in case - I've become a really light sleeper over the last few months, and I don't know why. Hopefully it'll quiet down some soon, though...

I would also have to assume from the details you've given me about your dorm that you're surrounded mostly by freshmen and sophmores, who've yet to be hit with the hammer of School That Is Actually Hard, Unlike Highschool. When they do, they'll either shape up or fail (but may still love drunken parties, just less frequently).

Hang in there.

Yeah, I think it's mostly first and second years, although Akiko (the Japanese exchange student) is third, I think, as is my floor advisor - people didn't introduce themselves with their year, though, and apparently some upper-year students like living here o.0

Thanks ♥
