Minor Cosplay Rant XD;

Largely, the fact that I am pale and English and have great big round eyes is an advantage in cosplay, because so many video game and anime characters do not look Japanese or even just generally asian in the least (even the ones that are supposed to be Japanese). However, this means I am totally and completely screwed when it comes to characters who look at all asian. Like Roy. Or Tseng (this is why I'm planning on Rufus instead). Or, at the moment, the demi-fiend. Yes, I am weak. It's the tattoos, because they are freakin' awesome.

I do find it amusing that there are a number of things I can do about the fact the demi-fiend in shirtless and I am a 38B, but not about the fact that he's Japanese. Because yeah, already tried fixing that for Roy last year. Mostly just made me look kind of silly, which is why I don't post those photos anywhere.

It... really doesn't matter. Asian cosplayers play the European-styled characters all the time and it doesn't bother anyone.

You have a point, but I think it tends to look weirder when caucasians try to cosplay asian characters than vice-versa - especially when it's one of the key characteristics like Tseng or the demi-fiend, _and_ it's crossplay. And it's less I'm saying nobody should do it as much as that it just looks bad on me, much in the same way that I wouldn't try cosplaying Sakura from CCS because I am not a tiny cute ten-year-old girl.

Hence, I could do Ren pretty well, most likely. >_>

Except that, you know, I don't cosplay. There's that.

If you were at all into FF7, I would totally coerce you into being my Tseng, because Skuld fails at actually doing costumes and coming to cons she says she'll do XD;

My hair is actually the right length for Tseng, too. However, the problem is that I don't cosplay. ;b

Hang around with me and Jo, and the friends of ours you will undoubtedly meet at Y-con, and you may get dragged along XD; I know I have a habit of doing it to friends - am personally responsible for at least three different guys knowing how to sew now.

Regrettably (or thankfully? XD), I really doubt I'll get sucked into anything.

Particularly as I will be working in the Dealer's Room for the entire daytime duration of the convention. >.>

Well, Skuld is failing me, and I'm not doing Rufus for Y-con anyway, so there will sadly be no stealing XD;

At least you're tall, though. I'm a short one.

Eh, I'm near the right range for the demifiend. And I cosplayed Yuna, who's about 5'3". It's all about build, which I do have. It's my gigantic European eyes that are the problem XD; Despite your insistances otherwise, and the fact that you'd be a bit too tall (but again, build), you'd make a good demi-fiend.

Eh... the Demi-fiend doesn't have a canon height, though neither does Dante, so there's nothing for comparison. He's taller than Isamu and Chiaki, but shorter than Hijiri and Hikawa, so assuming he's average for a Japanese boy his age, he'd be about 5'5".

You're not 5'5", but as you say height doesn't matter as much as build, especially when one cosplays alone. The trouble comes if you want to cosplay with others. At 5'8", no Dante short of 6'2"-6'3" will look even remotely accurate (and even then, not terribly).

As for build... I hate to disagree with you on this one, but I really don't think you do. Not even close. He has no ass whatsoever, and that's really going to show with those shorts.

I wasn't really planning on having a Dante, honestly. The only characters I've cosplayed I'm actually accurate to in height are Roy and Subaru, which are both never happening again. Three inches on the demi-fiend is better than the five or six I've got on Seishirou.

None of my chacters I cosplay have any ass XD; Well, 'cept Ada. Ass aside, though, I am largely build like a skinny teenage boy, although not quite as much as you are.

To be the demi-fiend, she'd need a Dante who was well in the range of... oh, 6'9". :D

Yeah. Admittedly I have no idea what a demi-fiend is. But she seems to cosplay some taller characters.

The demi-fiend is the little 15 year-old Japanese schoolboy hero in Shin Megami Tensei: Nocturne. He has some neato tattoos. :D

5'8" isn't _that_ tall XD; Just cosplay with shorter people - unless you're like 4'11", nobody will notice, and if you are, they'll think it's cute.

The problem being I'm the shortest one in the group (freaking Kamui is as tall as I am), and our Fuuma is 6' 1" in socks and insists on wearing platform boots.

I've given up on trying to look anything but ridiculous.

And I'd kill to be 5'8", for realz. It's a wieldy height.

Our Fuuma is also six feet, and wears these 6" heels for Touda that make me cry in shame for my shortness.

My Subaru at Otakon two years ago is an inch taller than me XD; You just can't tell from the photos.

I've never cosplayed a short character, yet I'm 5'3. xD

And god bless women cosplaying shirtless males. Leotards and ace bandages are the best thing ever. And oddly comfortable until one tries to sing karaoke.
