So, among many other things I will blog about eventually (ie, tomorrow), I'm currently deciding which version of Sephiroth I want to do for my senior project before going wild buying and drafting stuff. It's down to Advent Children!Sephiroth and the default FF7 outfit.

Default FF7 has the advantage of not looking like a heroin addict and not having those weird and probably impossible to find buckles.

Advent Children has the advantage of not having leg-of-mutton sleeves (Dear Nomura, those haven't been in style since the 16th century) or crack-bangs, and shoulders that don't suffer from that CLAMP coat-hanger look.

Either way I get to make glove gaskets! Ah, crack FF designs are love.

Opinions from the masses?

I'd say original!

Advent Children version, dear. Choosing this may give you more competition, too, but I feel it is the more interesting of the two. As for gaskets.. I will look at Sephiroth stuff later with you to give you a more informed opinion. ^^..

Advent Children design. It looks much nicer and with your skills? You'll be the best damn AC!Sephiroth ever :E

Date: 2005-09-25 11:12 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_5719 (from dreamwidth.org)
I think AC!Sephiroth too.

I like his voice. XDD I have no good reason.

Advent Children. *Nods.* Do us all proud by having eerily creepy face make-up and go around saying that ‘you will never be a memory’.

Date: 2005-09-26 05:22 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Sadly, that requires a Cloud, which I don't, and from the looks of it, won't have for AB. Although, I suppose I could find a particularly cute one to accost at the con XD

Date: 2005-09-26 05:48 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Pfft-sssh! You don't need no stankin' Cloud! Okay... so maybe you do. But only for nifty poses and such. I would completly offer to go as your Cloud, if I didn't think that would be creepy. I am so torn for what Final Fantasy costume I wish to do for AB. ;_; It hurts.

But gooooo as AC Sephy. You will garner far more luff that way; and Sephiroth needs a hug.

Date: 2005-09-26 07:18 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
If you mean 'creepy' like being Cloud would creep you out, I can't help. But if you mean 'creepy' like asking to be my Cloud would be creepy...doooo iiiiit XD <3 I would totally love to have a Cloud with me.

Date: 2005-09-27 03:39 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
I meant creepy as in offering to be your Cloud when you don't really know me would be creepy of me towards you. Buuuut if you don't find it ebil- booo. Alright then. If you need a Cloud, I'm offering. ~_^

Date: 2005-09-27 05:32 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Yay <3 (And I sort of know you, and know you're not a stalker, which is good enough for me. Half my X group two years ago was people I prett much didn't know at _all_)

Date: 2005-09-27 09:42 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Nope! Generally not a stalker, though I do have an unnatural obsession with ice cream. We did meet um... at some point in time. I think. Because your LJ name is written on the inside of one of my costumes. o_o;

Sunday afternoon, Otakon last year - we were sitting around the sofas and chairs in that little area in the Hyatt near where the bridge to the con center is XD

?!

Oh, ye of grand memory. Yep, that was it- I'm just an idiot. Must say... nothing feels so wonderful as peeling off three layers of vinyl that have been encasing you for an entire two days. NEVER make anything tight-fitting, full length, and vinyl and then decidedly wear it in August. Never.

Date: 2005-09-27 11:30 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Wool is just as bad - I had a black wool suit with a heavy black wool overcoat on over it all of Saturday, and it was awful.

(In relation to our other FF7 thread of conversation - apparently Hojo carries the title 'hakase', which apparently translates to 'professor' in the original Japanese - although Gast calls him 'Hojo-kun' XD)

Date: 2005-09-27 02:04 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Costumes are notoriously nix on the comfort. Which is why crack costumes are always nice to have in supply- thank the Gods for Yami no Matsuei. Who were you cosplaying back then, since I lack the brain cells to remember?

(Ne, actually, 'hakase' is translated to mean 'doctor'; or so I'm pretty sure. Doctor in the sense of an academic researcher; aka. when you get your PhD, you become a 'Doctor' of your study. Which would still prove your point. XD But, yeah- 'Kyoju' translates to 'Professor', not 'hakase'. *Nit Picks*)

Date: 2005-09-27 02:12 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
I did Seishirou on Saturday, which was the death-by-heat, and then Tatsumi on Sunday which wasn't _quite_ as bad.

(Ah, okay - I was supplied with the translation and was too lazy to double check. Jen is forgiven for the error, I know she's not one of those people who's studied Japanese for years and years XD And yeah, I guess the point would still stand, although the argument is from a different direction)

Date: 2005-09-27 04:05 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Hehe, Tatsumi is going to be my crack costume this year, methinks. And ouch. While it depends greatly on which version of Seishirou you did, none of them are really summer-friendly, just different degrees of hellish. I did Subaru's shikifuku this year; huzzah for white fabric that breathes!

I completely support all forms of lazy. Kudos to your friend for even knowing what he was called period. She is thusly 'cool beans'.

Date: 2005-09-27 04:20 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
My Tatsumi stuff probably won't make it out this year - my Yami group has kind of dissolved, and my regular suit is too small in the hips now. I may wear the yukata from volume 11 at a summer con if I've got nothing else. I had the two worst Sei outfits that con, though XD The regular X outfit on Saturday, and on Friday, I had the shikifuku, which is floor-length, completely lined, and fairly heavy black fabric and looks beautiful but is very warm. The wedding kimono is worse, though.

Jen is the world's biggest FF7 fangirl, I think XD She has practically _everything_ to do with it - including the brand new Ultimania Omega guide which she's been scanning bits of and sharing. Best crack-dealer EVAR XD

as I continue to be spamtastic and add one miiiillion comments

Date: 2005-09-27 05:11 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
The yukata is quite beautiful, and if I had better reference images, or more time, I'd endeavor for that one. Squee for yours, though! <3 I'm still trying to convince my friend she wants to do Watari, even though it's quite bland; she looks so the part. And oof... yes, you did have it bad. That's a whoooole lotta black, especially the shikifuku, which my poor Sei-chan complained of all Otakon long. Can't comment on the wedding kimonos as of yet; have that cosplay planned for next Otakon. Mm- fabric painting goodness.

Jen sounds like a Deity. I have Vishal, who's my FF7 Tasty Bits dealer; if you need to know the symbolism of Cloud's latest '...' he'll somehow cook something up for you. Fangirls, by the by, rawk hard XD What would us lesser groupies do without them, their plethora of facts, and illegal copies of stuff? (Ultimania Omega? Explain, explain!)

Comment convos are fun!

Date: 2005-09-27 05:29 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Well, mine is done entirely off of two images in YnM 11 - the bits I couldn't see, I made up XD My wedding kimono was particularly bad because I insisted on being traditional about everything, so I have one floor-length unlined kimono, one floor-length lined kimono, black hakama, and knee-length lined haori. It's also actually a two-person effort between me and friend who has far more artistic talent than me at painting, and then Mara and I made the Subaru one together. I think it's proof of my insanity that I'm tackling Sephiroth after going through all that last year XD;; Cosplay, it eats my soul.

Jen truly is a goddess among fangirls, I think. Although I'm not sure who has a bigger collection of Seph/Cloud doujin, her or my friend Skuld.

The Ultimania Omega is pretty much a big book of, as far as I can tell, anything you ever wanted to know about FF7, ever, along with tons and tons of concept art and stuff. I found out that Sasuga has copies, so I think I'm going to have to buy it even though my Japanese is like a four-year-old's XD

Trend Setting; LJ- it's the new AIM!

Date: 2005-09-27 05:49 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Ahh yes XD Three cheers for 'omgmakingshitup' when you can't see it in the reference images. -- That. Is. Such. LOVE. The fact that you did the entire piece traditionally is some word that doesn't exist, but may be a close relative of 'superfantasimic'. Guh, I may need to steal you if ever I have zee technical questions on the Subaru garb. Cosplay is the uber painful in during the creation process; but it's all worth it once you get layer upon layer of detailed, obsessive-compulsive eye candy madness on, and go parade about in it in public.

Doujin is the true mark of the fangirl. Have you ever come across that fabulous man who sells the Doujinshi at cons, and assaults all crossplayers, claiming they have 'not had their proper daily dose of yaoi, and need more man-love in their lives'? XD He is spiffing.

FF7 Bible. Yum. If you need help with the translations, just feel free to ask here. =D As long as you have a scanner, I can be your Matron of Paraphrasation.

New Seph Icon = Angular Prettiness.
Well, the other thing about the yukata is that the pattern stays the same size even when the shot is zoomed out and the garment is smaller- I suspect it's a fancy screentone or something. And yeah, feel free to ask if you've got questions - I don't mind helping cool people out (now, the whiny little people on Cosplay.com who IM me using tons of netspeak asking me questions - NO.)

...I am a bad fangirl, then, because I don't buy doujin unless I reeeeally like the images because I can't read any of it. Thus I only have a little bit of YnM and X/TB, and one really nice FMA. And no, haven't met that guy XD (Hey, next con I go to, I can buy yaoi doujin on my own! SCORE!)

I've got a scanner, so once I aquire The Shiny, I'll be sure to share ^^ Jen translated out a few interesting facts, but I'm a huge geerk and want mooooore.

Anything with Seph = prettiness, I think. That man is so awesome.

Then we're hip to the groove, main man.

Date: 2005-09-28 07:15 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Ah. So, liberties must be taken then, and it's understood as a hypothesis, as opposed to guesswork. You still reign as leading Muse of Detail. Aww, I'm coo'- that makes me fuzzy. The Cosplay.com folk I've met (a la AIM) are generally very prolific and ask well-though out questions; it's the people who start threads that have been answered time and time again that get irksome, and cause multiple face spasms.

Gasp and shockers! Don't be silly! How dare you INSINUATE that people buy doujinshi to read it! It is of course only bought so as to stare at the pretty pictures, and contemplate what it would be like to worship at the artist's feet. XD I think I translated a Marauder!Era Harry Potter one from cover to cover once... stories > smut, by *far*. (PS- Anything with Remus Lupin is love.) A friend of mine bought me a very lovely YnM one... sadly, I have no X/TB crack in my collection, so I'll just be jealous of yours. (Turning eighteen soon? =D)

Yesa. Just toss something at my head (and by that I mean IM/Email/comment) if you need more final fantasy goodness uncovered.

Yes, by George, he is.

...I am going to murder Cloud's gloves.

...I have no words XD

Date: 2005-09-28 07:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
See, it's the people that start all those threads that IM me x.x

And I guess that makes me special, because I always kind of want to know what's going on XD And yeah, Lupin = love. X/TB doujin is so hard to find at cons nowadays - all my stuff where either gifts from friends, or bought off of friends who were clearing out their collection some. (In March, which is before AB XD)

And you think _Cloud's_ gloves are bad? Seph's have _gaskets_ for god knows what reason. We can mourn the crack-gloves together, I guess XD

Speechless... I win! =P

Date: 2005-09-28 08:54 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Ack. x_x That's when filters come in handy...

If I can't figure it out/am too lazy to figure it out, I just guess based on facial expression. That leaves a lot of room for interpretation... one day, Sirius might be saying "OMGWTF that was MY pie!" and the next it could be "For the last time, no! I will not wear that skirt, it makes me look fat!" // Mandrake, which is where I got all my stock of doujin when I visited Japan, had a huge X collection. But I was too poor for it, hee. No TB though. My soul cries. ;-; (Yay! Congratulations! You can now get lung cancer, vote for people who aren’t bush, and get slightly homoerotic porn! ...It feels just like being 17, only slightly less prudent.)

I just discovered Cloud's gloves have mini Fenrir-heads on them. X_X Pfshph?! Character designs hurt the laws of physics and rationality.
Bwaha, Sirius in a skirt XD I make a lot of guesses, too - occasionally I don't want to even try, though, like the one I've got where Subaru has this dream of SailorSenshi!Seishirou. Thing of beauty. And yeah, I think Japan has a slightly better stock of the X/TB doujin - in the States, it's near-impossible. All the dealers at cons usually sell out of what little they have in the first two hours the dealer's room is open. (I think the porn and being able to sign my own consent forms are the only things I'm really looking forward to. For a while it was an ATM card, but we ended up circumventing that by making my account in both mine and my mom's name, and she got the ATM card in her name and just gave it to me)

Yes, they do. At least AC!Seph doesn't have leg of mutton sleeves or the giant coat-hanger shoulders a la CLAMP. I still sit here going 'Nomura, what the hell were you thinking?', though.

Can it be a lifetime supply of shampoo? With Fresh, Morning Mist scent?

Date: 2005-09-28 01:44 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Seishirou as a Salior Senshi > Sirius in a Skirt. Now that's my kind of math. The U.S., admittedly, is not the best place to harbor secret crushes on anime characters, but we might be runner-up for Fangirl Capital of the World. (Oh, the forms. I forgot that that bit; yes, there's something marvelous about getting to perfect your signature on very official looking pages, rather then a doodle pad.)

And yet, somehow Sephiroth, even with the offensive sleeves and murderous shoulders, still managed to go above and beyond the laws of badass, creating a new level of 'cool' all his own. He is the a la mode of villainy, that others can only aspire to.
Yeah, X has some really great doujin when you can actually track it down. And I dunno, it's pretty easy to find anime/manga stuff in a lot of Asia, or so I've heard. (That, and I don't have to bug my parents to do all the signing)

...And Square has been making cheap rip-offs of him ever since XD He really was their crowning glory of villians.

I think we have a deal.

Date: 2005-09-28 05:35 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Lucky ducklings in Asia, then. (Always a plus, yessiry.)

Kefka wasn't too bad, and I was fond of Kuja purely for his Lestat-complex and no other reason. But yes. Obviously, other villians are forced to flee in phear of being crushed when compared with Sephy.

Exeeellent.

Date: 2005-09-28 05:51 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Yes. Australia too, apparently. My friend in New Zealand has given me all sorts of neat little goodies you can't find around here as presents.

Well, Kefka was pre-FF7. So he's harder to compare - he does give me yet more proof in the 'clowns are scary' department, though. I thought Sin in FFX was an interesting concept, although that game had it's cheap Seph knock-off in Seymour.

Re: Exeeellent.

Date: 2005-09-28 06:25 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Australia I couldn't find a durned thing, though didn't make it so far as New Zealand (and, admittedly, wasn't on the hunt for Doujinshi). So I'll just have to trust you on that one.

Clowns, despite what any dare devils may say, are indeed the apex of 'creepy in a bad way'. The face paint, the gross hair, the grinning, and the total visual rape of their outfits is overbearing, and ought to be avoided. //End Rant. Seymour, let's just say was Sephiroth Clone #21. XD He escaped, and co-starred in his own game, with Cloud rip-off, Tidus. And by Cloud rip-off, I mean the hair alone. If Tidus is what Cloud would have been like with lines, I'm glade Strife was the Trowa Barton of FF7.

Ha! Now I win!

Date: 2005-09-28 06:32 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Well, none of my goodies from Ammie were doujin, but there was merchandise that's hard to find around here.

Have you ever read any of the Discworld books? The Fool's Guild is scary, particularly it's head, Dr. Whiteface. *twitch* And yeah, Tidus totally has Cloud's hair (Although Sora in KH is worse - I forget who Skuld and I decided Cloud was having a love child with on that one. Vincent, maybe? We definitely decided KH Cloud was cheating on Seph with Vincent XD). He doesn't have the personality, though, and he's way straighter than Cloud. I kind of like him even if he is a gigantic loser XD

Taking advantage of the sleepy... I challange you to a Re-Match!

Date: 2005-09-28 06:52 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Nosey: Like what?

No! No, I haven't, and my soul breaks a little bit each time people bring up a book I haven't read. Especially this one, because I've been asked that before. Worth getting, much? - Probably Vincent, since the day before the filming of KH, Cloud seemed to have slept in. When he dressed for work, still in a sleepy daze, he accidentally slung on Vincent’s Torn Cape (c) and metal arm of oddness instead of his own garb, then made his way to the KH set. Evidence? I think so.

Sora is, by far, the biggest loser (maybe second to Zell) that Final Fantasy has ever created. XD I love him too, aside from his giant yellow shoes. Those are weapons, I tell ya.

No! No rematch for you!

Date: 2005-09-28 07:09 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Some FMA keychains and stickers I haven't seen at cons around here, and Roy's character CD, which are all very much love.

I think the explanation Skuld and I came up with was that Seph found out that Cloud was cheating on him, and fried him, leaving just the metal arm and cloak, which is why Cloud has them and Vincent isn't in KH. Riku is definately Cloud and Sephiroth's lovechild, though XD

Sora _is_ kind of a great big loser. He's younger than a lot of Square's other great big losers, though, so it can be forgiven ^^

Gasp! Where is your chivalry?! I'll notify Lancelot about this, I swear it!

Date: 2005-09-29 03:40 am (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
FMA <3 Al is the cutest hunk of junk around.

Burn Victim Cloud; sounds like a very estranged addition to the Barbie line. (They actually make a Burn Victim Anakin doll via Star Wars... it's disturbing and crispy.) Oooh yes. XD Riku is definitely what happened when Seph and Cloud had too much time on their hands during the making of FF8.

But if he grows up to be *not* a giant loser... that would be sad.

His hair, like his shoes, is also a weapon.
...That _does_ sound disturbing o.0 (makes me kinda want to see it, actually >.>). And yeah, Riku totally has Cloud's wierd pointiness with Sephiroth's wierd color. Although, that means Sora/Riku is vaguely incestuous.

No, he'll probably still be a gigantic loser. Just slightly less of one.

Yeah, he could just put his head down and ram people. Would be more effective then smacking them with a giant key.
No, no... you don't wish to see it. It looks like someone took a GI Joe and baked it at 350 degrees F. That's if we're saying Cloud helped to spawn both. Vincent might just be A-sexual.

In that case, he's forgiven.

A tad more painful though, I'd wager. Might also muss his style. He'd need to use Kwik-Seal... on his head.
...Okay, now I _really_ want to see it XD; I have a strange sense of humor.

What, Vincent reproduces by budding XD?

This is true. It would be rally funny to see, though.

Pish-Tosh! Your Icon says it all!

Date: 2005-09-29 07:25 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
XD;; Indeed you must.

...I am dead. That killed me. ^^; Aww, Vince is delicate, fragile, and lovely, like a wee flower! Or is it just his aftershave that smells of lillies?
If it's lillies, it had better be death lillies. He's got a reputation to uphold here. (And I can totally see like, part of his Magic Cape of Doom(tm) breaking off or something, and then there's a tiny little Vincent clone or something. Or Sora, I guess, if his mind is fixated on Cloud or something XD)

And beat up by Sora too, might I add =P

Date: 2005-09-29 07:52 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
Well, white lillies maybe; the scent of fresh graveyard flowers. He does have that nifty coffin bed thing going on. (XD Ah. So his cape is how he spawns! So... then if Sora is VincentxCloud... Cloud + Doom Cape = OTP? <_<)
...I bet I could find a scent like that on BPAL (Http://blackphoenixalchemylab.com). (Hey! Maybe this means Vincent isn't dead in KH. Just in Cape Mode and wrapped around Cloud. Bet he likes that XD)

Was that in his official contract?

Date: 2005-09-29 08:30 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] ext_297251 (from dreamwidth.org)
...I bet he owns that sight, after having sold off the rights to Hot Topic to the GAP. (Cloud is popular in KH. He gets snuggled by Vincent-spawn, contractually owned by Sephiroth, and heck, even Hades is interested. ...It's probably all because of the size of buster sword. And by that of course I mean, anyone who has arm muscles enough to lug that thing around must be a physically fit individual.)

If it wasn't, it _should_ be.

Date: 2005-09-29 08:45 pm (UTC)From: [identity profile] momijizukamori.dreamwidth.org
Well, they do have some guy working for them named Vlad, apparently. (*cough* I'll bet. And Zack would so be all over that, too, if he wasn't, y'know, dead and all. Not that being dead seems to make much difference to other people in the FF7 universe)

...I had the realization that we're going to be, uh, _special_ Cloud/Seph cosplayers, I think XD
Maybe a second cousin, then? (No. Tseng and Rufus kinda pfft'd at death. ...As did Sephiroth, just a bit. Poor Hojo got the short end of the stick. And Zack is only half-dead; his ghost still watches over Cloud. On the field of battle. During his daily angst sessions. So why not in the shower, too?)

XD Special is good...
Possibly, yes. He's got _something_ invested in the venture XD (Well, Hojo's soul got eaten by Sephiroth - no, I am entirely not kidding (http://www.hojo.org/index.php?page=ultimania) - and I don't count Aeris because she may be dead, but she still comes back and screws around with everything _anyway_. And I bet Zack totally _does_ watch him in the shower. Perv.)

I'm inclined to agree XD
