My latest project, done for the Boston Cosplay picnic this weekend, and started, less than a week ago. I still have to do the obi tomorrow, so it's just a piece of black cloth I had laying around in the photos ^^

I'd make people guess what it is, only I think I've already told everybody who would know. Tatsumi from Yami no Matsuei 11, the sequence I've got illustrated in my blog layout ^^

Heh, I see what you mean ;0. The obi should probably be just a little lower, though. And white yukata underneath would also be a suggestion for the next time you want to go out Japanese-style.

I could probably wear the white kimono from my shikifuku under it, although I was under the impression that yukata weren't worn with other layers save undergarments underneath.

And yeah, damn my hips ^^ I'll see how it looks with the obi lower, though, possibly when I actually make the obi ^^

It depends. Sometimes people do, sometimes they don't- if there are layers, it's generally only one underneath. I would imagine depending on how hot it was outside, really.

Heh. Well. Mostly it's your skinniness that is to be damned, actually, and I feel your pain on that one. Wearing the upper half pulled up a little rather than clinging would help immensely- this is how most Japanese men wear it anyway.

I'll see what the weather is like Saturday, then. Although unless it warms up a whole lot, I'd probably be okay with two layers - I managed to survive the full shikifuku in the middle of August, on a very hot, sunny day.

And you may be skinny too, but you are definately less curvy than me *pokes* ^^ I'll try fiddling around with the fit, though - I'm just afraid that making it any looser on top will make it fall open because of my chest. Maybe a discreet safety pin...

I have ice blood, myself. What is this 'hot' you speak of? ;P

Well, that's true. But I've been wearing men's clothes virtually my entire life, so I know a thing or two about how to wear them. One of the things I would do in summer camp when I was your age, when we played our token boys vs. girls Capture the Flag game, was tuck my hair up under a baseball cap and infiltrate enemy territory. Worked pretty damn good, too.

A discreet safety pin would be good- no fear of the yukata coming open at all!

I'm much the same. Hell, I've been freezing most of the last week, here. It's gotten kind of bad over the last few years - I used to at least go sledding and skating, but this past winter my main goal was to stay inside as much as possible. Which sucks, 'cause I actually do enjoy skating and such. And when I say 'hot', I'm talking like 90F ^^ (30C, I think.)

And I wear men's clothes too (Currently have stolen a pair of my brother's cargo shorts >.>) Just not fitted ones, in an attempt to actually pass as a guy ^^ Although I get mistaken for one anyway, which I don't really get (People to my mom: Oh, is that your son? Me: ....) But yeah, saftey pins = my friend ^^

Well, there're two ways to pass for a guy, really. One is in the face, the other is in the body. I think in your case, it's more that you have a boyish face, and in my case that I have a boyish body. Someone could take one look at you and go 'ah, a boy!' then look a little closer and realize their mistake. With me, it's more 'ah, a g- oh, wait, no it's not... or is it?'- since with all but the tightest of shirts, I have NO visible cleavage, they either have to assume a pretty man or a woman with no breasts. It's interesting to see which they choose.

Well, I suppose the fact that I'm less curvy than many of my peers helps a little bit, as well as my like of big t-shirts (I figure, if I'm going to be casual, I might as well be comfortable ^^). I'm built like the women on my granmother's side of the family, ie, _really_ thin, although my grandmother was a lot prettier than I am ^^ And you've got a bit of a boyish face...possibly more so than me, although that might be because you look a lot older.

XD You mean like the maids that attack Tatsumi with many yukata ^^?

Hee hee... the glasses and the facial expression in the first pic kill me. If you parted your hair on the side, the effect would be perfect.

My hair refuses to part on the side, unfortunately. But I plan on buying gel this week to get the full Tatsumi effect ^^ And those are actually my regular glasses. I'm lucky and they look like his. And thanks ^^

Should have used your adorable Tatsumi icon! But that does look fantastic - lovely work, my dear <3
