[Accidental Radio Broadcast]

There's the sound of a door opening and closing, then footsteps on a bare wood floor. The footsteps pause]

Mou, Digit, stop that! Harold isn't a toy!

[yeah, that pout is practically audible. He stops, sighs for a moment, before continuing a little more seriously]

Well... I guess he is. But not your toy!

[There's a distinctly unamused 'mrowwww' at that]

Don't complain, I got some extra fish for you too.

[Pleased 'mrrrrrr' in response to that. The footsteps start up again, and the slight clatter of dishes as Dai gets a plate out to put Digit's piece of fish on.]

I've got everything set up for tomorrow night, I think. Even if Samehada-san kept grinning when I was moving furniture. I hope he likes it, though. Do you think he'll like it?

[Digit purrs at the attention Dai is giving him and Dai just laughs]

Of course you would, you'd gorge yourself silly.

Sky-san, did you make it through everything all right?

Samehada-san, [Pause. A few flecks of ink on the page as if the brush he's writing with was coincidently shaken] do you need any help repairing the dojo?

Does the word 'Shinsengumi' mean anything to anyone?

[OOC: 'Shinsengumi' = 'newly selected corps', more or less. Actual historical group so knowing doesn't fourth-wall him]

Memory > 1

Daitou knelt in seiza on the floor of his small Section 1 apartment. The cat was locked outside, for now - not his usual habit, but he didn’t want to be interrupted in the middle of this. He took the little black silk pouch out from the front of his kimono - he’d been keeping it close over the last few days, until he had a nice long break to sit down with whatever Locke’s mysterious gift was. He pulled the drawstring open - ‘simply let it fall onto your hand’, he had said, but Daitu tipped the bag out into the floor instead. He wasn’t to keen on the idea of surprises. A single item dropped out of the bag, clattering onto the hard wood floor. It was a small, pale crystal, seemingly glowing with it’s own light. A metal ring surrounded it, like a setting on a gemstone. It looked like... a memory crystal, actually, from the descriptions he’d been given. Carefully, he reached out and brushed the ring with his finger tips - nothing but cold metal. He picked it up by ring, taking a closer look at it - but he couldn’t see anything that stood out to him. He reached up with his other hand to touch the crystal in the center of the ring with one finger.

'I am a demon's child' )
With that, Daitou was abruptly thrown back into his own body, able to feel again, able to turn his head to glance around the apartment. The ring was still gripped between his two fingers, but the shine had gone out of the crystal. Used up, he supposed. He rose, a little shakily - there had been a lot to process there - and tucked the crystal into his clothes chest, before unlocking the door and letting a less than happy Prestidigitation back inside. Codes, laws... ‘Shinsengumi’. He had killed someone, it seemed - though that only confirmed what he had suspected from his dream, from the tattoos he’d been given. ‘Murderer’. They had spoken the truth. He would have to think on all this for a while.

Apple-san~ Are you planning to move the animals from the shelter to the Wilderness during the storm? Do you need help?

I don't have much stuff, so it's really just helping Sailormoon-san with the shop and all.

Sailormoon-san? I'm not sure I should come in to work today. I [pause before he continues] don't want to scare off any customers by accident.

How does this place [struck out quickly as he realizes that might not be a wise question to ask on the journals.]

That other guy's note reminded me - I guess I have to find a job sometime this week, ne? I was thinking about applying at one of the shops. I'm not sure if I've ever worked at a place like that before, but it seems like it could be interesting.

I'm not really sure which one to pick, though.

I guess these things really can do what Crow-san and Grift-san said they could - though I don't really see how. Still, it must be awfully handy.

[There’s a long moment as Daitou stops and thinks what he’s just written through, before he continues.]

I suppose I should say hello, ne? I’m Daitou, though you could just call me ‘Dai’ - though I’m really not very big.

[Another brief pause as he considers the implications of that particular statement.]

My, that didn’t come out quite right, did it? Anyway, I know I’ll enjoy getting to know you all!

4AM Thoughts

I really want some Jyuushiko/Retsu...well, not necessarily porn, but shippy goodness, at least. I mean, I like Ukitake/Unohana as is - their personalities mesh well together - but the genderswap adds a whole new layer to it. Jyuushiko is someone who struggles sometimes with reconciling her strength and her femininity. She's a little bit of a tomboy sometimes, and she had to pose as a boy to gain her strength (well, didn't have to, but she felt she did which is what matters). So she looks up to Retsu, and admires her a lot as someone who does seem to manage balancing being very traditionally feminine with being strong and in charge. And they have a really cute dynamic even just as friends.

I think the fact that the only femmslash I can remember writing is mediocre-to-crappy Tomoyo/Meiling fic that still resides deep in the bowels of FF.net means I should probably do this, though I kind of need to get better at writing Unohana first.

I have a laptop power cord again! Oh my precious, how I have missed you ♥ Finally I can have all of my bookmarks and my addons and my saved passwords, which I did not want on the shared computer. I also have a terrible bout of insomnia, care of job hunting and visiting relatives, which has my 'flight' reaction cranked up to about ten. So I'm sitting around awake testing out a new Unohana journal on a Minazuki who is apparently also an insomniac (or lives in futureland).

I also actually signed up to write something for Springkink - Shunsui/Ukitake genderswap. Fic on a deadline, let's see if I can actually pull this off! But Jyuushiko topping Shunsui was just too damned tempting.

O Life

The last few days have felt more like a week - all of my immediate family flew out for graduation, plus my grandparents from Florida, so Thursday and Friday were a lot of driving around and panicking and what not. Graduation itself was well done - kept things organized, and all of the little speeches were good. I'm not sure if it makes me a huge nerd or a social outcast (or both) that I knew more of the faculty on stage watching than the group I was actually graduating with. Now begins another round of frantic job searching, as it turns out my grocery store fall-back option may not have hours for me, and I won't find out until next week. Ugh this week, etc. I am also kind of stoned on Benadryl right now - but at least it works wonders on the itchiness.

I was going to say 'man everybody is going to have way more awesome weekends than me', and then I realized that I'm graduating on Friday and that should be way more exciting than an anime con, but...mostly I'm just stressed about my Florida grandparents being here for a week - they're not bad people, really, but they're loud and Florida and I live in a city that is pretty much entirely hippies and/or Asians, so things are going to be...tense? I am also still all hive-y - still unknown what I'm allergic to (made an appointment for next week to get a referral), but the prednisone the walk-in clinic prescribed me works awesomely for about twelve hours and then they start coming back. So I just made a one am run to Shopper's for some Benadryl so I don't wake up at eight am because I am too itchy to sleep. Right now I'm playing the 'which will kick in first, the anti-histimine effects or the drowsy effects' game.

...Yeah this week is well into crazytown already :|

Ugh

So apparently my body decided Friday contained too much awesome, and decided it had to do something about it - I woke up Saturday covered in hives which Claritin and hydrocortisone cream did not put much of a dent in. This morning was even more unattractive, as they had spread to my arms and legs, and I looked kind of like I lost a fight with a fryalator. Luckily Ced had some prescription betamethasone cream which actually did help (still splotchy, less itchy though), although I'm going to go to a walk-in clinic in the morning, because best guess is that it's a reaction to something I ate, and...I don't actually have any known food allergies. And I'd really like to avoid a repeat of this.

Also, my laptop power cord finally died. Yeah, a week and a half after finally getting a new battery. On the plus side, I finally am on my way to achieving my Eeveelution team! And I am 99% sure I don't have measles (it was actually a worry, apparently there's been an outbreak in the GVRD).
