General: The Five People You Meet In Heaven: can't remember author A guy who has been working his whole life in a boardwalk amusement park dies trying to save the life of a little girl. He goes to heaven and meets five different people from his life that tell him things about himself and the world. Not too preachy and a really sweet book all around.
Fantasy: The Memory, Sorrow, and Thorn Trilogy: Tad Williams I have yet to conquer Otherworld but this series was amazing. It's about this young boy Simon who suddenly finds himself thrown into a war between an ancient race called the Sithi, their kin the Norns, and two factions from his own home. It's something akin to King Arthur meets Lord of the Rings. Very funny and very good.
Artemis Fowl: Eoin Colfer Super genius tries to pull the ultimate robbery: stealing gold from the LEP-recon unit. Harry Potter meets the 21st century. Very quick read.
