As for the headcold: Chicken sooooup. Or, well, any soup. It's easy to swallow, unless you've a bitch of a sore throat, and I often find that the warmth + steam are somewhat relieving for headache/sinus-y stuff. There's a REASON it's a cliche that's hung around so long! xD Also, tea, for similar reasons.
And IDK if tension is at all part of it, but I'd put something warm, with a little weight, along the back of your neck. My standard is a rice-filled cotton sock, tied off and heated for 1.5-3 minutes in microwave, depending on how warm you want it. :D
