I think its the only way to make him not a total asshole - if he has reasons for lashing out the way he does.
Haha, well, it was spawned in my silly English minor brain, so who knows XD I was hoping for subtle but noticeable with with that line, as it kind of sums up a lot of the changes between them over the course of the whole thing.
