I'm using this (http://www.joann.com/joann/catalog.jsp?CATID=cat2968&PRODID=prd7208) fabric in cobalt blue - it's really nice, because it's a bit heavier than a lot of other satins, and it's less shiny. It also pleats pretty well - [livejournal.com profile] grayhour and I used it for a good chunk of the Subaru/Seishirou wedding kimonos (http://www.tokyo-tower.org/photos/wedding/) - I don't have a lot of good shots of them, but you can see the hakama pleating here (http://www.tokyo-tower.org/photos/wedding/fv2.jpg).

The hip roll thing I cannot help you with yet, as I'm trying to work out the leotard bit first XD
