(no subject)

This has ended up getting put on the back burner with everything else that's happened lately, but I finally secured space and firearms for the class. First lesson will be Friday at 6pm at [address] Mostly the basics this week, I think, but there'll be some practice in there too. So, if you're interested, leave your name (I don't particularly care if it's real or not, just what you'd prefer I call you), your level of experience with firearms, and whether you'd be interested in hand-to-hand training as well - that's being put on hold until I determine what the teacher to student ratio is like, as smaller groups are better for that.

There will be a small fee, probably about $15 a class, just to cover ammo and firearms rental. And as I've said before, if I don't think I can trust you with a firearm, I will not teach you.

You probably remembered, but I should very much like to attend both firearms and hand-to-hand training. I'm about a year out of military service, and have had all the trining - particularly in small sidearms. As it is, I never needed to use my training outside of practice... Well... until recently. I've picked up a little practice with pistol and revolver on my own, and own my own pair. I'm still rusty on some of the intricacies and longer range weaponry - rifles and the like.

Does that help?

Are you feeling better now? It's been a few days...

A bit, yes. The fingers still need a little more time, but they're only an annoyance now.

Well... don't overdo it. You won't start classes till you're fully healed, I hope.

The worst of it will be healed by the end of the week - not my trigger finger anyway, though, so it's not much of an issue.

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 08:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes, that does.

I was more worried about your grip and the hand-to-hand classes. But I'm glad to hear that you're recovering well.

Oh! I meant to ask... Do you know this "Reeve" that Elena's chatting with?

[identity profile] bellstoll.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
You offering this up to everyone?

Ah, yes, I wasn't going to do hand-to-hand again until it's fully healed. Well, unless it become necessary, but hopefully that won't be the case.

And yes, I do. Reeve was one of the former members of the board of directors of the company - he heads up the restoration efforts now. He's an engineer and architect by trade - I respect him even if our methods tend to differ radically. He's actually staying with us for the moment.

Essentially - though I expect to weed out a few who are either too immature or too unhinged to trust with a gun after the first class.

Oh good. I understand that rebreaking something not yet fully healed is excruciatingly painful.

Oh! That explains it! I just never heard anyone mention him before, so I was a bit puzzled. He's not technically a Turk, then, but a member of the company. Hm. Do you know why he came?

[identity profile] bellstoll.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 08:49 pm (UTC)(link)
That'd probably cover most of the kids on this thing.

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
You may be right - I'll find out on Friday, I suppose. Still, I've seen some rowdy kids grow into fine Turks.

[identity profile] bellstoll.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
Turks?

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 09:06 pm (UTC)(link)
The nickname of the group I head - 'Department of Administrative Research' is far too unwieldy.

Having done it more than once, it very much is.

To satisfy his own curiosity, most likely. And probably to get away from the media hounds as well.

[identity profile] bellstoll.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 09:18 pm (UTC)(link)
And you hire out kids?

...

He seems like a polite, curious person. Very different...

From the rest of us? It's very true. He was never really enough of a bastard to be part of the company, honestly.

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 09:45 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, I assume by 'kids' you mean teenagers, as I've seen very few actual children here. Most of our hires were between eighteen and twenty two, but we went as young as fifteen in some cases.

Not that I'm looking for new hires here. But given incentive, some teenagers can be remarkably mature

What?! You're not...!

Lessons in firearms? Interesting. In this city, I am sure there are many who could use the training.

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 10:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Very much so - this city is a dangerous place. And I have experience training others and some free time to fill.

Interested yourself?

What kind of hand-to-hand?

[Locked to Sheska]

[identity profile] citydragon.livejournal.com 2009-09-15 10:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Sheska. I don't say that to be self-deprecating, I say it because its true. I told you once that I am not always a nice person - that hasn't changed.
