I usually tried to make a point of playing people who ethnically belonged in the place they were... I played a mixed-race Hispanic in Albuquerque, and a mutt Asian on Pern (which led someone to ask me what prompted me to do that.. I was all.. "um, cause the planet was colonized by the Chinese?")
