Hm, I wonder if they meant Dutch is like English grammatically, or words-wise. Personally, I guess I've seen/heard more resemblances to Norwegian or Dutch. English is also a Germanic language, but it's borrowed so much from others that I've never really considered Dutch to be very similar.

For example - to say "Julie is visiting":
Norwegian: "Julie er på besøk"
Dutch: "Julie is op bezoek"

As you can see, kinda close. :D
