Aw, but UBC is fun! (Get the choc-chip cookies at the SUB, they're awesomely delicious, that and the cheap pizza. Oh, and take a walk down to the beach below the cliffs near Ritsumeikan for the gorgeous sunset and pot-smoking hippies). The UBC anime club is friendly and I know someone there who helps organise the local con who's lots of fun (look up galaxychild). As a UBC student you get to buy a UBC transport card which entitles you to ride on any of the buses for free or a very reduced fee, and the bus system around Van is pretty good. As for getting to Victoria, the 4 hour trip is easy enough to do even to go down just for a weekend once a month or so.
