No. This place can be very different, but I'm fairly certain people are not supposed to taste like candy.

[So guess who's going to corner you in the candy shop at the closest opportunity. Hint: He currently has the good sense of a six years old.]

[The problem with being reduced to around age six, Huo concluded, was not that it made one's legs so much shorter so that getting to the candy store took twice as long as it should have. No; the problem was that it really did not agree with one's emotional filtering, even if one was normally very good with that kind of thing.

Consequently, it was a rather harried and confused little boy who entered the candy shop that noon, and promptly stopped when he realized that he wasn't tall enough to reach the top of the counter.]

[The little bell on the door signalled the arrival of someone new into the store. Daitou glanced over from the shelf he'd been straightening with a bright smile. A child - an unfamiliar one, too, which was surprising. There didn't seem to be many children in the Sphere. ]

Hello! Can I help you with something today?

[Daitou didn't recognize him.

Small as it now was, Huo's mind was still very quick, especially to take advantage of unexpected boons. Assuming a perfectly innocent expression, he stared up at Daitou with wide eyes aglow with fascination.]

Do you taste like candy now, Mister?

[Daitou blinked. How did he...? Right, the journals. Though he should have noticed another child's handwriting on there... Strange. Maybe he didn't write much.]

I do, actually! Like grape candies.

Oh! [Huo clapped his hands in delight. Affecting the childlike behavior was very easy, he was finding: their minds were definitely affected.]

Is it nice? Mr. Tian said it was nice. [His voice dropped low.] But he's scary.

Well, I like it. [He holds out his hand] You can try, if you'd like!

[The corners of his lips quirked slightly as he tried to hide the grin at what Tian's reaction to being called 'Mr. Tian' would look like]

Tian-dono can be very scary, it's true. But not always.

[So far so good. Huo kept his voice both low, all shy and a bit scared (which was also a handy reason to avoid licking Daitou).]

But he's a dragon and you taste like candy now! [He raised huge eyes to Daito.] Did he try to eat you?

[There's a small, hastily stifled snicker at that before the perfect composure is back.]

Tian-dono doesn't eat humans. Just fish.

He doesn't? Really? [Huo stressed, every bit the child understandably intimidated by the big bad dragon. Then he appeared to get distracted by a new thought.]

So he should taste like fish. [He smiled a tiny smile.] Fish and candy together, phooey!

Well, I don't usually taste like grape candies - even if I eat a lot of them - so I don't think Tian-dono tastes like fish.

[He grins a little]

That does sound like a strange flavor, though.
