Radio Memory
The clatter of geta on wooden floors and Daitou's voice. It sounds like he's talking to himself.]
"Yes! I want some too!"
[The footsteps stop abruptly, and Rain's voice comes in among a burst of static]
"Where are you going?"
"Um, you know, [static] healthy food doesn't taste so good..."
[There's a pause while someone - most likely Daitou - coughs, somewhat wetly. He sounds a little breathless when he speaks again]
"So every once in a while... I want to eat sweet stuff..."
[Rain is having none of this, and that much is clear even with voice alone.]
"Then I'll bring something to your room. You shouldn't be out in the cold air until your fever goes down a little. And your throat doesn't sound good, either."
[Dai, clearly dejected-] "Oh... Well I want to eat, but... How can I say this..." [He sighs softly and then continues.] "...Look. Everyone's over there... It's been so long... I want to be with everyone... You know?"
[There's a long pause as Rain considers this, then the sudden clatter of geta again and Daitou's triumphant cry.]
"Now's my chance!!"
"Running is bad for your health!"
"I'm fine!!"
"Yes! I want some too!"

[Quicklog]
No.
[It was an honest answer - he was as puzzled as Rain was about this new development in their relationship. It hasn't quite sounded like friends - more like that of a caretaker. Which as far as he could tell didn't mesh with his personality /or/ what he did here in the Sphere]
Do you remember what you did, before?
Re: [Quicklog]
I'm a shinobi. [Not past tense, but present. He looked back at Daitou once more. Well, since he was being bluntly honest, maybe he could expect the other to be the same...]
Are you sick now? Here?
[Quicklog]
There's a pause before he answered the question - his first instinct was to brush it off, like he had with all the others. But Rain had known, in that memory - that much was clear. And if he was a shinobi - he'd find out, eventually, no doubt. His gaze dropped down to his folded hands]
...Yes.
Re: [Quicklog]
[He was quiet for several long moments, letting the new information sink in. That, and he didn't quite know what to say.]
Not just a bad cold, then. [And that probably wasn't the best thing he could have said, considering that Daitou didn't seem too keen on talking about it. But if it was something Rain had known about before, he wanted to know about it now.]
[Quicklog]
No. Tuberculosis.
Re: [Quicklog]
[As Daitou answered, his eyes widened, and he looked incredulously at him before turning his gaze down to the floor, furrowing his brows. Even without memories, Rain knew that was serious. Would it kill him? Could people die of illness here? He supposed few stuck around long enough to find out... ah, but maybe that wasn't it at all. This place had futuristic medicines and treatments, and even people who could heal using magic. He looked back at Daitou intently.]
Have you been to the clinic?
[Quicklog]
Daitou nods.]
Yes - Lezard-san said it had been fairly advanced when I got here. But I have medicine for it now.
Re: [Quicklog]
It's helping? [He realized he was prodding now, but he wanted to know as much as Daitou would tell him.]
[Quicklog]
A lot.
Re: [Quicklog]
[Rain nodded once, satisfied - with the types of medicines this world had, Daitou would most likely be fine. There was something else he was wondering though, and he considered for a moment how best to word it.]
...Does it seem at all... strange to you that I was taking care of you?
[Quicklog]
Only when I really think about it, and compare it to what I know here. The memory itself doesn't feel...false. Just strange in comparison.
Re: [Quicklog]
I think... it provided more questions than answers. [He hated it when that happened.]
[Quicklog]
It seems like that's usually the case around here...some information, and a lot of questions. I guess... all we know for sure is that we had some sort of close relationship, before. Even if it was just a working one.
[Sorry Rain, not his type]
Re: [Quicklog]
[He hid it well enough though, nodding back calmly.] It's something.
[It's okay Dai, he knows you may have been spoken for.]
[Quicklog]
[He gave Rain a glance - a slightly harder one this time]
What I told you... was only for you to know. Don't tell the others.
Re: [Quicklog]
[He met Daitou's gaze evenly.] Understood.
[Quicklog]
Thank you, Rain-san.
