I actually had shoeboxes full of uniquely-folded middle school notes to and from classmates~ hundreds of the things. They were at least 8 years old. -.-;;
My solution was an iron will and about four trash bags. I shut my eyes and just started stuffing, to be honest~ if you try not to look too carefully at what you're throwing away, in the end you don't miss any of it later.
That's probably... a horrid suggestion though. It sounds a lot easier than it is...
