Well, some of the northern West Coast has the same sort of feel - Seattle, Vancouver, Victoria. I think it's because the climate is similar, and they were settled by the British. I confess I haven't actually spent that much time in NYC, although I'd love to. But I know Boston far more intimately.

New England is definately worth a visit - just don't come in the middle of winter XD;
