Well, I am still looking at Text Pattern right now. It's down to that or Wordpress. I like the interface with Text pattern and I also like that I can control exactly how manual I can get with regard to making my own CSS. It's 100% CSS compatible which is one of my big plus items and they do have a lot of people making nifty layouts but I'm still unsure if it's the one for me. I'll corner husband tonight on it and get his final word but TP didn't seem to have a lot of PHP knowledge as a requirement.
